So, I finally subscribed to cable TV. It never made sense for me before since I watch so little TV. In fact, a few years ago my antenna wire was cut and I had no TV at all for about six months. I didn't really notice until football season rolled around again. I think the Jets were doing well that year, so I finally crawled out on the roof and spliced the wire. It wasn't worth it. You know the Jets.
But, the Verizon FIOS package is only about ten dollars more than my current phone and internet bill with no cable. So it didn't seem logical to say no to it. I look forward to having Turner Classic Movies.

Between wating for the Jets to win a Superbowl and turning to the dark side, I say go with the Patriots. After all history is on their side. Time and time again the Jets are buried by them.

Cable is good, but don't get tempted to order HBO. HBO is absolutely terrible. They show the same crappy movies over and over and over again with the occasional film worth watching.
ReplyDeleteI am a die hard Jets fan, which is a bit sad when you think about it. When they were doing well this year at 8-3 I actually wrote a poem about them for my Creative Writing class. It was one that exalted the Jets for breaking free of their previous seasons follies and forging ahead of the Patriots in the division. At the end of the year, I re-submitted a very different poem.
I 2 am a suffering Jet fan but I like there new coach and r defense should be good we just need a quarterback and another wide reciever...but those positions arent that important anyway.
ReplyDeleteMr. Bennett I suffer from no cable television but like you I don't watch anything much beyond basic television. I, like Nick and Billy, am a die-hard Jets fan so don't give up on them. If you are going to the Pats side you will become a part of the dark side with Mr. Callahan and his NE aficionados. Yanks and Jets the way to go. Congratulations though on the cable I'm waiting for my parents to go back to cable as well. They are already tired of basic.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty good Mr. Bennett, although Nick is absolutely right, HBO is horrible in large degree, except for the exception of shows like the Sopranos (which is over but when it was on), Entourage which is incredible, and movies/mini-series like Recount and John Adams. Beyond that, the movies that they get are usually not very good.
ReplyDeleteFor anyone who has the station HDNet Movies (Directv Channel 552) it is a station I just discovered last week and it has some pretty great movies. i.e. Lawrence of Arabia, Unforgiven, Dances with Wolves, etc. (posts may be coming on a couple of these soon, but probably not Unforgiven). I'm waiting to watch it in class first I believe.
But congrats, Mr. Bennett, on finally getting cable.
I cancelled at the last minute. They guy said he was going to have to drill some huge hole in the side of my house. I wasn't up for that.
